Getting Rid of Under-Arm Flab

When you raise your arms and move them back and forth, do the undersides of your upper arms jiggle? Those bits of flab, colloquially known as “bat wings,” can show up on any woman’s body as she gets older, especially if she is carrying a bit of extra weight.

If you are stuck with the dreaded bat wings, there are a number of things that you can do to get rid of them. Exercises that work your upper arms can help tone that area to help reduce the appearance of bat wings. Try lifting light weights in order to help tone that area. Combining weight training with aerobic exercises can help you look and feel great. Taking walks on any of the scenic foot paths around Dallas is a great way to get your heart rate up.

Another thing that you can do is work on improving your diet. Reducing the amount of highly processed carbs can help you lose weight and get healthier. Instead, eat plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins such as chicken breasts and fish. Replacing saturated fats with the healthier fats found in nuts, avocados and olive oil can also help reduce your cravings for unhealthy, highly processed carb-heavy foods.

If you are obese and have bat wings, one of the options you and your doctor can discuss is weight loss surgery. Bariatric surgery can help you lose weight when other options do not work.

You should also think about how good your skin’s elasticity is. In general, the younger you are, the better your skin is able to bounce back into shape after weight loss. As you get older, you may require surgery to remove the extra skin left behind after you have lost the extra weight that is contributing to your bat wings.
